Sarah Jane Williams
Sarah was born in Mudgee, New South Wales, in 1881. Her father was John Williams and her mother was Emily Carroll.
On 3 November 1897 William Farmer McLean married 16-year-old Sarah Jane Williams, according to the rites of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. The location of the wedding is variously reported as being the residence of the bride's parents in Merrendee and the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Mudgee. The bride's mother, Emily Williams (nee Carroll) gave consent as her daughter was under age 21 (NSW marriage registration 1897/008009).
Children of William and Sarah were:
- Lena M. McLean (1899-unknown) (NSW birth registration 22977/1899)
- Ruby McLean (1901-1998) (NSW birth registration 5389/1901)
- Millicent McLean (1903-2003) (NSW birth registration 23090/1903)
- Elizabeth McLean (1905-unknown) (NSW birth registration 15296/1905)
- Harriet Sabina McLean (1906-1981) (NSW birth registration 36722/1906)
Subsequently John met another woman. Sarah remarried in 1915 to Herbert Pointing. At age 76, she died on 20 October 1956 in the Home of Peace in Petersham, NSW, and was buried two days later in Eastern Suburbs Cemetery in Sydney.
