Hugh Patrick McKenzie-McHarg

Hugh Patrick McKenzie-McHarg, the son of Samuel John McKenzie (1825-1905) and Margaret Elizabeth Dwyer (1837-1927). Samuel had been born in Scotland and Margaret in Ireland they had each emigrated to the colony of Victoria. Hugh was the ninth of their ten children.

Hugh Patrick McKenzie-McHarg was born on 17 November 1873 'in a bark hut' at Emu Flat, Heathcote, Victoria. As a child he suffered tuberculosis and one lung and part of another were removed. He grew up in Emu Flat, worked in a cheese factory at Croydon until he was sent to Walwa in northern Victoria to open a cheese factory there.

Hugh married Laura Mary Dunne and lived for many years in Walwa. Details of their family are listed with information about Laura. Hugh died on 17 July 1964 in the Walwa Bush Nursing Hospital.
