Elizabeth Anne Bergin

Elizabeth Anne Bergin (known as "Lily"), was born 12 March 1886, the eldest daughter of John Bergin and Margaret Lavelle.

She married Richard Howard on 2 August 1910. They had one daughter, Kathleen Howard.

Elizabeth died on 14 January 1963.

        Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Howard of 9a, Alum Chineroad, Westbourne,
        whose funeral took place at Boscombe Cemetery on Saturday was an old resident of Westbourne, where her late
        husband was a prominent member of the Westbourne Conservative Club.  Her death occurred suddenly but she had
        been in ill-helath for some time.
        
        Like her father, Mrs Howard's husband served in the Royal Irish Constabulary.
        
        Mr. Richard Howard was in 'The Troubles' and with thousands of his comrades and their families came to England
        and other Empire countries with The establishment of the separate Irish State.
        
        Her only daughter is married to a Fleet-street (and formerly Poole) journalist, who is also the son and grandson of
        R.I.C. men.
        
        the Requiem Mass at The Church of Our Lady Immaculate, Westbourne, was aid by the Rev. Fr. B. Vella, S.J. who was 
        assisted by the Rev. Brian MacGarry, Poole born Jesuit scholastic who is Mrs. Howard's eldest grandson.
        
        The internment was at Boscombe in her hsband's grave.
