Clara McDermott Spratt

Clara was the daughter of Thomas Spratt and Annie Ramsay Leggett. She was born at Hargraves, New South Wales, on 23 December 1877. McDermott was the name of Thomas' mother.

Clara married John Carty, postmaster, on the 24 th November 1903 at her father's hotel at Hargraves. They later moved to Orange then Bathurst. Sometime between 1915 and 1928 the family moved to Bondi Junction in Sydney.

Children of the marriage were

Mervyn Carty, cousin Lindsay Spratt, Jack Carty (front) and Oswlad Carty.
From left: Mervyn, uncle Lindsay Spratt, Jack (front) and Oswald.
Clara's youngest brother Lindsay was of similar age to her children.

Clara Spratt Carty died at Maroubra on the 31st of January 1946. Her remains are interred with her parents at Waverley cemetery.
