Catherine Cleary
Catherine Cleary, born in Miltown Malbay on born 5 August 1876. She was the daughter of Matthew Cleary and Sarah (Sally) O'Brien. The family emigrated to North Queensland in Australia; they sailed from Glasgow on 20 July 1883 aboard the Eastern Monarch, enduring a terrible journey which is well documented in the diary of Charles Fleming, and arrived at Townsville on 23 October 1883.
Catherine married John Williams in Ravenswood on 12 September 1903. The children of the marriage were
- John William Williams, born 10 July 1904 at Ravenswood. Never married; possible date of death 27 September 1971.
- Gladys Violet Williams, born 28 June 1906 at Ravenswood. Married Frank Hansen on 7 February 1931 at Ayr, Queensland. Child of the marriage was Kathleen Hansen, born 1 January 1932 and died in Wollongong, New South Wales.
- Magdalene Eileen Williams, born 30 September 1908 and died 30 October 1911.
- Olivena Mary Williams, born 14 February 1911 and died in 1926.
- Clive Wentworth Williams, born 21 June 1916 in Ayr, Queensland. Married Alice Olivia Cornish in Ayr on 6 September 1941. Clive enlisted in Ayr to serve in the Australian defence forces in World War Two. Children were Clive Cornish Williams (born 1942 in Ayr); Terence John Williams (born 1944 in Ayr; married Lynette Robyn McConnachie in Ayr and their children are Megan, Clive and Bronwyn) and Michael Vernon Williams (born 1947). Clive died on 30 September 1967 and Olive died on 30 November 1979.
Catherine died on 29 October 1966.
