Alfred John Parsons
Second child of Stephen Parsons and Sarah Perkis, Alfred John Parsons was born in Brompton, Middlesex, England in approximately 1840.
The Parsons family emigrated to Victoria, Australia, departing Plymouth, England, on the sailing ship Appleton on 22 October 1856 and arriving in Melbourne on 25 January 1857.
The family settled in Brighton, Victoria.
On 17 May 1858, Alfred John Parsons, age 17, married SarahLewis, age 17, at St Andrews Church of England, Brighton, Victoria.
Alfred's occupation was baker. He and his wife, Sarah, moved from Melbourne to the town of Morses Creek (Bright, Victoria).
They were the parents of four children.
It is not known when Alfred left Bright. But in later years, Sarah and the children continued to live in Bright without their husband and father.
Shipping records show an Alfred John Parsons, aged 26, sailing for New Zealand on the Nightingale in July 1867. This is the correct age for Sarah's husband.
One family story is that Alfred John Parsons owned a hotel in New Zealand. His death certificate shows that, at age 35, he married Emily Berriman and had six children, 3 girls and 3 boys.
Alfred John Parsons died, aged 59, in 1900 and is buried in New Zealand.
