Edmund Charles Dunne
The son of Patrick John Dunne I and Jane Murphy, born 24 November 1861 in Surry Hills, Sydney, New South Wales. At one stage in 1861, the family was residing at 220 Riley Street and it is likely that this was where Edmund was born.

Edmund and his older brother Peter Augustus Dunne were employed in the New South Wales post and telegraph service. They were both appointed to Deniliquin between 1 January 1879 and 8 September 1881. Young Edmund was a "probationer" while the older Peter was a "line repairer". It is reported that they repaired the telegraph line at Jerilderie after it was cut by the Ned Kelly gang in February 1879.
His first wife was Eliza O'Mara (this is spelling on death certificate but name also reported as "O'Meara" from other sources) whom he married at Kiama, NSW, on 17 March 1886. Eliza was the daughter of Patrick O'Mara (a farmer of Jamberoo, NSW), and Eliza McDermott.
Eliza and Edmund's children were :
- Jane Ellen Dunne (born 2 March 1887; married Christopher Hewson on 30 May 1906 at Bowen, Qld.)
- Eva May Dunne (born 1 September 1888; never married.)

- Ethelreda Josepha Dunne (born 2 March 1895; married Thomas Torpie on 11 June 1921 at Nundah, Qld.)
Eliza died of acute peritonitis on 17 December 1895 at Jamberoo, near Kiama, NSW. Her brother, T.J. O'Mara was the informant when the death was registered.
On 7 January 1897, Edmund married Anne Seery. The NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages has the marriage registered twice in two separate locations. Marriage registered as no. 1839 in the year 1897 between Edmund C. Dunne and Annie Seery took place at Redfern NSW while marriage registered no, 1849 in the same year took place at Robertson NSW. Family tradition placed the marriage at Burrawang, NSW (near Robertson).
Edmund resigned from the NSW Post and Telegraph Service on 10 December 1897. Edmund and Annie moved to Bowen, Queensland. Edmund commenced employment with the Queensland Post Office on 7 July 18980
Children of Edmund and Annie were:
